Steve Kim Visits Metro East Pachyderm Club
Saturday, 28 August 2010 22:00

P1050149s P1050151s SteveKim SteveKim1

State Attorney General candidate Steve Kim spoke to the Pachyderm Club on Friday August 27, 2010. He reminded everyone that the State Attorney General is more than a prosecutor; rather, there is a regulatory function which gives the Attorney General much control over business in the state. He was clear on his goals for correcting some real problems in the state government. He asked for everyone's support in his bid for Attorney General. Steve Kim is a dynamic speaker and left the audience with an inspired feeling toward the future with him as Illinois State Attorney General.

Sue Lynch, President of the National Federation of Republican Women, addressed the Metro East Pachyderm Club on Friday August 27, 2010. Sue was enroute to the National Convention in Carbondale, Illinois and stopped in to talk with our Metro East Pachyderm Club at the request of our Republican Women. Sue shared the goals and mission of the Republican Women and discussed the need for all factions of the Republican Party to come together for the fall elections to put Republicans in office. Her organization is working closely with the Republican National Committee to get out the vote and educate voters about issues. Thanks to Sue Lynch for taking time to visit the Pachy Club and help us to better understand the National Federation of Republican Women.

Candidates Baar Topinka and Rutherforde Visit Metro East

Illinois State Comptroller candidate Judy Baar Topinka and Illinois State Treasurer candidate Dan Rutherford made a campaign stop in the Metro East at St Louis Downtown Parks Airport on August 23, 2010. The Metro East is one of more that twenty communities where the candidates are sharing their message about their unified support for consolidating the Illinois State Comptroller and State Treasurer Constitutional Offices they seek. This would ultimately save millions of taxpayer dollars annually through streamlined operations and improved investment of state dollars. Citizens from Monroe and St Clair County were on hand to greet the candidates and ask questions about their campaign intentions. We appreciate Candidates Baar Topinka and Rutherford for coming to the Metro East communities to share their campaign goals.

A View on Being a Precinct Committeeman
Friday, 20 August 2010 15:30

Metro East Pachyderm Club member and St Clair Township Precinct 22 Committeeman Sue Don Carlos gave a presentation on Friday August 20, 2010 about becoming a Precinct Committeeman. Sue started in March by attending a training session for County precinct committeemen. She felt the need to get involved in the process of getting Republicans elected to office. So, she became a Precinct Committeeman and set about organizing her precinct and helping her constituency better understand the issues and candidates and how they could get out the vote. In less than six months Sue has become a very active helper in St Clair County politics and one of the more politically knowledgeable members of the community. She is now sharing her knowledge and techniques with other precinct committeemen and polling place officials. Precinct Committeeman Sue Don Carlos has become a standout official and is determined to make her voting area ready for the fall elections. Thanks Sue for a great presentation.

Ron Stevens Speaks to Pachyderm Club
Wednesday, 18 August 2010 08:54

On Tuesday, August 17,2010 the Metro East Pachyderm Club had a special meeting arranged for Tom Cross, Illinois House of Representatives Minority Leader. Mr Cross could not get there in time, so Ron Stephens, a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives, was gracious enough to fill in for him. Ron has represented the 102nd Illinois District since 1993 and is currently the Assistant Republican Leader in the State House. The district includes portions of Bond, Madison, Effingham, Fayette and St Clair counties. Representative Stephens geared his comments toward the need for all Republicans to come together this election cycle and give their full support the the full slate of Republicans. He encouraged all at the meeting to get out the vote so we can get Republicans in the Illinois Assembly to reverse some of the spending and taxing trends in our state. Thanks to Representative Ron Stephens for stepping up to the plate in our time of need, and thanks to him for the fine work he has done for his district and for the State of Illinois.

GOVENOR FRENCH ACADEMY HEADMASTER TALKS EDUCATION

On Friday, August 13, 2010 Phillip Paeltz, Headmaster of The Govenor French Adacemy private school in Belleville, spoke to the Metro East Pachyderm Club about the costs and results of private schools. Headmaster Paeltz was very candid in his assessment of public education and it's problems and pitfalls. He addressed specific areas of concern of Pachyderm members regarding costs, budgets, student achievement, special ed students and local boards of education. The meeting went overtime as Mr Paeltz was willing to stay until all questions were answered. His was a very dynamic presentation and was well received and appreciated by all present. One Pachyderm member was overheard to say, "Is he going to run for office?". Thanks Headmaster Phillip Paeltz for such a great presentation.
